Karim Jamal

Chairman

Karim Jamal has held a number of voluntary positions including Economic Planning Board for Eastern Tanzania (Chairman – 2007 to 2009), Economic Planning Board for Tanzania (Chairman – 2009 to 2012) and Regional Conciliation and Arbitration Board for Eastern Tanzania (Chairman – 2012 to 2014).

Shabir Abji

Director

Mr. Abji joined the Board in 2013 and chairs the Board IT Committee and is also a member of the Board Finance Committee. Mr. Abji is a businessman and assisted in the running of the family business, and in 1984 set up the company operations in Uganda. As the Group Director, he was instrumental in setting up Uganda Oxygen, Twiga Chemical Industries Uganda, Service and Computer Industries Uganda (Formerly NCR) and American Communication and Technologies. Mr Abji has served as the Chairman of Aga Khan Health Services, Tanzania, a Councilor of the Confederation of Tanzania Industries and currently is the Chairman of Dar es Salaam Tourism Executive Board. He is also the Chairman of the Tanzania Asian Development Association (in formation) and has been involved in fund raising activities for various causes and is a member of the FAO sponsored Telefood Committee.

John Metcalf

Director

Mr. Metcalf was appointed to the Board in 2006. He has extensive international experience in the insurance industry and is currently the Head of Insurance for the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED). He is a Director on the Boards of the Company’s insurance subsidiaries. Before joining the Company, he was the Executive Chairman of the Allianz Group Insurance subsidiaries in Egypt. Mr. Metcalf is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds a BA (Hons) in Banking Insurance & Finance from Sheffield Hallam University. Mr. Metcalf is a member of the Board Finance Committee, Board Audit & Compliance Committee, Board Nominating & HR committee and Board IT Committee.

Njeri Jomo

Director

Appointed in 2022, Njeri Jomo is the Chief Executive Officer and Principal Officer of Jubilee Health Insurance, bringing over 20 years of experience in insurance, strategy execution, and business transformation. She is a highly skilled leader in health financing, digital innovation, risk management, and distribution strategy, driving growth, operational excellence, and access to quality healthcare solutions.

She serves on the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) Board, the General Insurance Council, and the Strategy & Legal Affairs Committee. She is also a Board Member of Jubilee Health Insurance Uganda and Tanzania, contributing to finance, risk, and audit oversight as a member of the Board Finance & Investment Committee (BFIC), Board Audit Committee (BAC), and Board Risk & Compliance Committee (BRCC).

Njeri holds an Executive MBA from USIU Africa and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Marketing). She is a Fellow and Associate of the Life Management Institute (FLMI, ALMI) and holds a Diploma in Insurance, an Award in Bancassurance (CII, London), and a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Life & General Insurance. She is a Certified Corporate Governance Professional from the Women on Boards Network (WOBN), with expertise in board leadership, governance structures, and fiduciary duties.

A recognized industry expert, Njeri is an Associate Member of the Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) and a Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK.

Richard Kasesela

Director

Richard Kasesela is a seasoned Tanzanian leader and governance professional with extensive experience in public service, business leadership, and sports administration. He has held key leadership roles within Tanzania’s public and private sectors, including serving as Chair of the Mining Advisory Board under the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and former President of the Tanzania Basketball Federation.

He is also recognized for his contributions to health advocacy and regional development, having served with organizations such as the Pan Africa Business Coalition on Health and the Tanzania Country Coordinating Mechanism. Richard is known for his strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and commitment to sustainable development initiatives across Tanzania and the African region.

With a strong background in policy, institutional governance, and organizational leadership, Richard continues to champion initiatives that drive economic growth, social impact, and regional collaboration. His diverse experience across sectors positions him as a respected voice in leadership, sustainability, and strategic transformation.

Amyn Lalji

Chairman

Mr. Amyn Lalji joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director on May 29, 2024, bringing with him more than 35 years of diverse business experience. He currently serves as Managing Director of Kanji Lalji Limited, a multi-generational Tanzanian enterprise engaged in transportation, farming, and real estate.
Academically, Mr. Lalji earned a First-Class Honours degree in Pure Physics from the University of Ulster, followed by an MBA from the University of Warwick. His leadership extends to his role as Chairman of Jubilee Life Insurance Corporation of Tanzania and as a Board Member of Aga Khan Health Services.

He is a professional member of both the Institute of Physics and the Association of MBAs in the United Kingdom. In addition, he is an active member and past president of the Rotary Club of Bahari, Dar es Salaam.

Shamir Ramji

Director

Mr. Shamir Ramji has extensive experience in Manufacturing, industry management, competitive analysis, financing, mergers and acquisitions.

He is the CEO of Iron and Steel Limited (Group of Companies) who are Manufacturers of various structural steel products with a presence in 6 countries in Saharan and Sub-Saharan Africa. All ISL steel mills are fully integrated with modern technology.

Dr. Harold Adamson

Chief Executive Officer

An accomplished leader and expert in management with extensive knowledge in medical underwriting, healthcare modelling and financing, claims management, business process reengineering, social protection, and project management with remarkable experience in the industry, Dr. Harold Adamson joined Jubilee Insurance Company of Tanzania in March 2021 as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Earlier Dr. Adamson worked for both AAR Healthcare (T) Ltd and AAR Insurance (T) Ltd for 11 years; serving at different capacities, from Health Centre Manager then climbed the ladder to Operations Manager and in January 2018 he accepted a position as a Chief Operating Officer of AAR Insurance (T) Ltd. Handling with success the business operations and turned around the underwriting loss-making company to profitable one within two years. In his career timeline, he also excelled as a Managing Director at AAR Healthcare (T) Ltd.

Dr. Adamson has worked with other entities on part time bases like Jomo Kenyatta University – Branch of Tanzania as a part time lecturer, teaching, Strategic Management.

He is a certified director with Institute of directors Tanzania with membership number 1291 (MIODT. 1291), a member of medical association of Tanzania, a member of association of Tanzania Insurers and chartered insurance institute (UK).

In 2014 he received a Certificate of Merit as an outstanding leader.

Shaban Salehe

Chief Operations Officer

An experienced Finance and Operations personnel with a demonstrated history of working in the Accounting and financial services industry. Skilled in Budgeting, Tax Preparation, Internal and External Audit, Analytical Skills, Risk assessment, competent understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and analysis of Accounting Policies. Also, with extensive experience in processes and operations excellence.

Shaban started his career at Ernst & Young as an Assistant Auditor in September 2014. He was consistently exceeding firm expectation and rated as a good performer. He was quickly promoted to a senior level in 2016 a position he served up to July 2019. In August 2019 he moved to The Jubilee Insurance of Tanzania Limited as a Deputy Head of Medical – Finance and Operations. Mr. Shaban is now a Head of Operations and Business Efficiency for Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Tanzania.

Shaban is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA (T)) and a member of Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).

While working for The Jubilee Insurance Company of Tanzania Mr. Shaban spearheaded the implementation of the drug delivery program which was a success to the company.

Nickson Motta

Chief Finance Officer

Nickson Motta joins Tanzania’s Jubilee Health Insurance Company as CFO. He brings 9+ years of experience enabling considerable expansion of a firm’s strategic business strategies in corporate finances from two main sectors in Tanzania, namely energy and financial services.

Previously Nickson worked for ENGIE in two (2) different projects/companies on renewable energy technologies in the Africa business unit known as Engie Energy Access i.e., Engie – PowerCorner in Tanzania & Zambia on Smart Solar Mini-Grids Project as Head of Finance – Finance Manager and Engie-Mobisol (UK) Tanzania on Solar Home System (SHS) Products as Finance Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis.

He also worked for AAR Insurance (now known as Assemble Insurance), a reputable medical insurance company, for five (5) years, joined as an accountant, working on different areas in the finance department. He was part of a team that played a vital role in transforming the medical insurance business processes, successfully contributing to AAR Insurance’s being a market leader of health insurance products at the time.

Nickson also has an experience in auditing, he worked for Demus Associates, a certified auditing and consulting firm, as an audit associate. He directed a team of auditors who audit SMEs, governments, and non-governmental organizations. He has studied Business Studies-Commerce majoring in Accounting (B. Com) at the School of Business Studies and Economics, University of Dodoma, Tanzania.

He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an Associate Member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (ACPA). Mr. Motta is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb UK-Kenya Branch) and the Institute of Risk Management (IRM UK).

Wilbert Mweiro

Head of Retail and Branch Networks

Wilbert is a CII certified Insurance Practitioner, Business administrator, Insurance, and risk management professional with 8 years of experience in operational, administration and management of business. He is a strong project and administrative team leader with a result orientated approach.

Wilbert joined Jubilee Health Insurance in 2022 as a Head of Retail and Branch Networks overseeing retail business, bancassurance and branches. Bringing his expertise as a Manager Business Development – Bancassurance from CRDB Bank PLC overseeing daily insurance sales in all zones.

To prove his expertise in the insurance industry, Wilbert has also worked for AAR Insurance in various positions, the last being Underwriting and Membership Manager.

He has also undergone training in Micro Insurance from FSDT, and Strategy Execution and Balance Scorecard from IFM.

In his free time Wilbert likes to attend discussions of various developmental issues, watch news, participate in public lectures, and travel.

Rogation Selengia

Chief Distribution Officer

Rogation began his insurance career in 2001 at MedX Insurance before moving to Momentum (now Meticulous Insurance). He first joined Jubilee Insurance in 2008, contributing significantly to business development and customer engagement.

Over the years, he has held several senior leadership roles, including CEO of First Assurance Tanzania, General Manager at Victoria Insurance Brokers, and CEO at Insurance Group of Tanzania (IGT), later serving as Head of Sales & Marketing (Health) at Assemble Insurance.

In 2024, Rogation returned home to Jubilee Health as Chief Distribution Officer (CDO), bringing over two decades of industry experience, a passion for continuous learning, and a leadership style grounded in listening and collaboration. Outside work, he enjoys reading professional development books and remains a veteran basketball player and enthusiastic fan.

Rogation lives by the belief that, “Insurance is not about expecting the worst — it is about protecting what matters most, so you can live with confidence every day.”

Veronica Nyange

Customer Experience and Retention Manager

Veronica Nyange is an ambitious and self-driven insurance expert, currently working as a Customer Experience Manager of Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Tanzania.

She has previously worked for various entities including Vinjari Company Ltd as a content, reservations and administration manager, Jubilee Insurance Tanzania Limited as an Underwriting Officer, Medical Corporates Relationship Manager and helped to retain about 90% of the business on assigned corporates portfolio by end of 2021.

Zuhura Mwale

Senior Manager – Actuarial & Underwriting

Zuhura is an experienced actuarial specialist who acquired her Bachelor of Science in Statistics at University of Cape Town, South Africa. She is a Senior Manager – Actuarial and Underwriting. Her roles include product pricing, business retention, business processes and product development.

She has previously worked for various entities including BP Tanzania, Diamond Trust Bank and National Social Security Fund.

Bryan Russel

HR Business Partner

Bryan Russel is an HR Professional with over 9 years of experience in the HR function. Bryan joined Jubilee Life Insurance Tanzania in September 2024 as the HR Business Partner.

He has experience in Talent Management, Policy Development, Performance Management, Employee Relations, HR Analytics and Compensation & Benefits.

Prior to joining Jubilee Life Insurance, Bryan was an HR Business Partner at Oryx Energies Tanzania Limited. Bryan has experience working in other capacities in the HR function with other multinational organizations, namely Sandvik Mining Limited and Toyota Tanzania Limited

Bryan is a Certified HR Analyst, and holds a Masters in HR & Business and a bachelor’s degree in business & management from Aston University, UK.

Isaac K. Mfalila

Head of Internal Audit

Isaac is an experienced finance professional who has over 10 years of experience in the finance profession working predominantly as an auditor delivering assurance services to the company’s governance structures.

Isaac has worked as an external auditor with multinationals PWC and KPMG in the beginning of his career before moving to the industry to work in internal audit and finally joining the Jubilee group in 2019 to date. He is a qualified professional and is a member of institute of internal auditors and has certificates in project management and finance modeling.

DR. Renus Gratian

Claims Manager

An experienced health insurance professional with extensive knowledge in claims quality assurance, trend identification, and fraud detection, Dr. Renus Gratian serves as the Claims Manager at Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Tanzania. An accomplished leader and expert in strategic planning, process re-imagination, and digitization projects, he has demonstrated a remarkable ability to manage teams and automate processes to achieve high-level strategic objectives.

Dr. Renus has dedicated his recent career to Jubilee Health Insurance, climbing the corporate ladder from Claims Assessor in 2018 to Quality Assurance Officer, and subsequently serving as the Quality Assurance Manager for nearly eight years. In these roles, he successfully spearheaded functional strategic planning, instituted critical claims controls, and led negotiations with service providers. Earlier in his career, he applied his clinical expertise as a General Practitioner at AAR Healthcare (T) Ltd and completed his medical internship at Muhimbili National Hospital.

Dr. Renus holds a Degree of Doctor of Medicine from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in 2016, a Certificate in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK (2020). He is currently pursuing an MSc in Health Economics and Policy at MUHAS. He is an active member of the Medical Association of Tanganyika (MAT) and previously served as the Chairperson of the medical subcommittee of the Association of Tanzanian Insurers (ATI) in 2019.

Edson- Ryan Mahalu

Legal Counsel & Company Secretary

Edson is an Advocate of both High Courts of Tanzania and Zanzibar, and an Intellectual Property Specialist after successfully completing examinations administered by the Asian School of Cyber Laws, in India.

He joined Jubilee Life Insurance Corporation of Tanzania Limited in 2023, as he was joining from Elsewedy Electric East Africa Limited, where he worked as a Senior Legal Specialist. With over 5 years of experience, working in a public office, fast-growing law firm, and as an in-house counsel, he has managed to successfully work with various industries including, but not limited to Insurance, Energy, Construction and Telecommunications. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Dodoma (UDOM), and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania (LST).

Helena Mzena

Chief Executive Officer

Ms. Helena Mzena is a Chief Executive Officer of Jubilee Life Insurance Corporation of Tanzania Limited. She Joined Jubilee Insurance in 2011 and held various senior management positions in both the Jubilee Insurance Company of Tanzania Limited and Jubilee Life Insurance Corporation of Tanzania Limited.

Ms. Mzena is a highly experienced professional with an extensive background in strategy and leadership, she has over 13 years of experience in the insurance industry. She previously worked in various Industry in Tanzania and UK. She worked for Deloitte Touché Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL), Tanzania, NTT Europe Ltd, UK as well as the UK local authority.

Ms. Mzena’s holds a master’s degree in financial management from Liverpool John Moore University, UK and a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Financial Information Systems from University of Greenwich, UK. She also holds CII Diploma in Insurance, International Post graduate Diploma in Life Insurance from Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (IIRM), a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) UK, she is a Chartered Accountant hold a fellow member of ACCA, a holder of ACPA member – Tanzania, she also holds Senior Management Leadership Certificate from Strathmore University Business School and a certified Female Future Leadership program with ATE/ESAMI University Business School.

Elia Kibaja

Elia joined Jubilee Life Insurance in January 2015.

He has over 11 years’ experience in Insurance industry. Prior to joining Jubilee, he walked for MicroEnsure Tanzania. He holds a Bachelor of science in Tax administration, Certificate in Insurance, Certificate in Information Technology.

Hillary Godson

Chief Financial Officer

Hillary Godson is a strategic finance executive with over a decade of cross-border experience in financial leadership, regulatory compliance, and operational transformation across East Africa. As CFO of Jubilee Life Insurance Corporation of Tanzania, he drives financial strategy, governance, and performance optimization, aligning business objectives with shareholder value.

He leads enterprise-wide budgeting, financial reporting under IFRS, and regulatory engagement, while championing digital transformation and investment portfolio management. Hillary is known for his ability to translate financial insights into strategic decisions, foster cross-functional collaboration, and deliver results in dynamic environments.

He holds a Bachelor Degree of Commerce (B.Com) in Accounting Hons, from the University of Dar es Salaam and he is a member of ACCA – UK and CISI – UK. Hillary has also completed advanced leadership postgraduate program at Strathmore Business School. His career spans roles at PwC and Vodacom, with a proven track record in audit, risk management, taxation and stakeholder engagement.

Dereck Rwezaura

Dereck Rwezaura joined Jubilee Life Insurance in 2016 with over 16 years of Management experience, he started as a Senior Agency Manager and later got promoted to Head Of Agency and in 2019 joined Bancassurance Department as Head of Bancassurance. Prior to Joining Jubilee Life Insurance Jubilee Life, he worked with Zantel Telecommunication Company as a Strategic Accounts Manager. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma of HRM from IFM , a bachelor’s degree of Public Administration from University of Dar es Salaam and Certificate of Proficiency (C.O.P) from Institute of Finance Management (IFM).

Douglas Mpangile

Douglas is a dynamic and results-driven insurance professional with over 12 years of extensive expertise in Life Insurance, Medical Insurance, General Insurance, Reinsurance, and Business Development. With a proven track record in leadership, he has held pivotal managerial roles for over a decade, driving strategic growth and exceptional client service in the insurance sector.

Douglas rejoined Jubilee Life Insurance in February 2024 after previously serving the company from 2013 to 2016. Throughout his career, he has also held senior management positions at leading firms such as Sanlam Life Insurance and Howden Insurance Brokers, to name a few, where he was instrumental in spearheading business expansion and operational excellence, consistently achieving targeted growth through strategic partnerships and innovative insurance solutions.

He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Insurance & Risk Management and a Master of Science in Insurance & Actuarial Science from the Institute of Finance Management (IFM), bringing a powerful combination of strategic vision, leadership, and business development acumen to his role.
